There is nothing easy about being an accident victim. In many cases, you must deal with changes to your lifestyle, absence from work, medical bills and pain. On top of all that, you are faced with what is often referred to as "the quagmire of litigation."
When dealing directly with the insurance company, you are dealing with an adversary that wants to minimize your claim. They may ask you to sign a medical release and give a taped statement. They will do what they can to settle your case as quickly "and cheaply" as possible. By representing yourself, you give up your only leverage: your right to sue.
Sometimes it is necessary to exercise your leverage in order to get an insurance company to take your claim seriously. I meet with all of my clients to discuss the possibility of filing a lawsuit. Unless we are up against the statute of limitations, I never file without a client's consent.
Beyond litigation, I will serve as your direct contact with the insurance agency or defendant -- they can no longer contact you. As your attorney, I will assist in the investigation process, and will help you recover payment for medical bills and navigate through the issue of property loss.
